Mauricio Valdes has built a multifaceted career spanning acoustic, electroacoustic, and experimental music, along with various artistic disciplines. Spaning solo instrumental performances to ensemble compositions and mixed media installations. He is a curator and head of R&D at HEKA Lab at PINA in Koper, Slovenia, where he designs immersive studio technologies and content production.

For Niansa 2k24, Mauricio will perform a solo, electroacoustic improvisational piece. Additionally, he will curate a guided deep-listening sessions featuring a showcase of sound works by various composers and sound artists, demonstrating the possibilities of three-dimensional sound diffusion. Each piece and its approach will be explained prior to presentation. 

Finally, he will also lead a workshop/masterclass focusing on designing immersive spatial sound experiences. 

These sessions and workshop are part of HEKA Lab's showcase, presenting the DODEKAOTTO: 20channel Sound Sculpture. During Niansa 2k24, the DODEKAOTTO sculpture will feature a special site-specific iteration, seamlessly integrating into the mesmerizing expanse of Rakov Škocijan’s natural envnronment.
