As a project, Line Gate has been undergoing a slow, steady transformation, much like the longform drone works that have come to characterise it. What began as a band in 2010 and last appeared as the resonance of a lone hurdy-gurdy on "Den" in 2017 has now blossomed into gradually unfolding meditations. The gently modulating drone of the hurdy-gurdy remains present during the first piece, along with its very characteristic (almost psychedelic) resonances and overtones. However, the listener's ear is almost immediately drawn to another sound source - the human voice. Apex and Trap (mappa, 2020, 2024) presents an interplay between these two instruments, which, strangely enough, are positioned in a similar space on the frequency spectrum. The result is a mind-bending interplay between the hurdy-gurdy and the voice. More than ever, Line Gate's music resonates not just in sonic terms, but also in its deep humanity and social relevance.

The exploration of vibratory phenomena is at the heart of my sound work. By exploring their means of production through different devices. By engaging the body in a sound action that impels the vibration of material. Stimulated by the study of vibratory interactions between sound materials ; experimentation with frequency phasing through the relationships that can be established between pairs of objects of different shapes and materials. Their spatial projection, path and rebound.

For several years now, I've been developing a technique combining circumambulation around a horizontal drum. With a whole orchestra of heterogeneous sound objects brought into contact on the drum's membrane.

All editions take place during daylight hours and are free, welcoming all ages and species. The exact geo-coordinates for each location are revealed 24 hours before the event begins.
The label operates on DIY principles in a tandem of Zoltán Czakó - Jakub Juhás. The medium aspects - packaging technics, use of materials and graphic realisation - are derived from the listening of each recording. The final pieces are assembled with care by our hands and ears.
