RADOSTAN KILIMS
scenography intervention

Radostan (Marija Radovanović Stanimirović and Uglješa Stanimirović) is a Belgrade based rug store and nomadic gallery. It places the rug at the heart of a dialectical relationship between the salon and the industrial, the Orient and the West, the ethnic and the cosmopolitan, high art and folk art. It connects with designer furniture pieces from different eras, interiors, and architecture—or is elevated vertically, granting it the status of a wall painting, a work of art. The core idea was to lift the rug beyond utility and allow it to communicate through the language of art.

Radostan originates from the practice of naming territories, and in our case, it does not refer to a geographical concept. We envision Radostan as a utopian entity that unites a selection of diverse textiles from our spaces, justifying its existence through the production and documentation of installations and practices of its nomadic gallery, as well as the community it gathers around itself.
