PROGRAM TEXT:

In the embrace of the stunning karst landscape and the ever-flowing Rak River, this year’s gathering will host over 45 non-overlapping performances across three stages constructed to blend and enmesh with the natural surrounding space, NiANSA offers a range of audio-visual happenings including concerts, performances, listening sessions, site-specific installations, workshops and sound walks collaborating with different local and international initiatives, labels and collectives at the fringes of different types of exploratory aural imaginations.

Growing and developing at a natural and sustainable human speed Niansa thrives on personal connections between artistic collectives, guaranteeing care and attention for seamlessly interwoven series of acts usually playing more high-end festivals and locations while avoiding the massive overlap and consequential choice deriving from bulimic and FOMO-inducing lineup programs.

Based on the ethos necessary to keep these communities alive and healthy, this year’s program is trying to map its own vision of the developing boundaries of an evolving musical ecosystem made of left-field electronic explorations, ensemble approaches to improvisation, shapeshifting club ambiences and unorthodox manipulations of sonic matter through the potentialities of field recordings and recorded-media.

BACK TO PROGRAM

°˖✧NīANSA✧˖° is an atmospheric, exploratory sonic gathering that explores the synbiotic relationship between soundscape and landscape through collective listening experiences. Set in natural environments, we create envinronments where music, ecology and human perception intersect—inviting participants to engage deeply with both curated sound and their surroundings.

Moving beyond conventional institutional norms, we strive to craft bespoke, delicate playgrounds where creators and wanderers alike collide, exchange, and voyage freely. Through site-responsive performances, immersive installations and participatory activities, we transform the landscape zone into a living sensory environment.

We envision our gatherings as a departure from the typical festival grind. Instead, we like to think of them as temporary, world-built microcosms, where like-minded beings from all walks of life, converge to connect, touch grass, and drift together into the luminousness of the unseen and the unheard.

Operating outside conventional festival formats, we foster a slower, more intentional space without overlapping sets or rigid schedules. Attendees engage with the land as active participants, where the wild karst terrain becomes both venue and collaborator through projection mappings, environmental sound works, and performances that respond to the landscape.

ANOTHER VERSION:

°˖✧ NīANSA ✧˖° is a three-day outdoor gathering exploring landscape symbiosis through collective deep-listening immersions. Set within Rakov Škocjan’s wild karst terrain, the program unfolds as a continuous thread of avant-garde electronics, left-field sonics, exploratory music imaginations, morphing club textures, field recordings, and avant-garde experimentalism.

Performers attune to the terrain's natural acoustics while participants wonder freely between sonic, visual and sensory experiences. This alchemy creates a hybrid space co-existing somewhere between site-specific concert, land art and meditative practice—a temporary equilibrium of human creativity and geological presence, built around focused listening and discovery.

The experience extends beyond sound. Scenographic works—nocturnal projection mappings, site-responsive installations, and liminal dance performances—transform the landscape zone at NiANSA into a full-spectrum sensory delight.

Between explorations, communal tables offer curated culinary experiences where seasonal flavors and spontaneous conversations become part of the experience, as a nomadic community of listeners gathers and disperses across the luminous karst landscape.

OLDER:

°˖✧NīANSA✧˖° is an interspecies outdoor gathering initiative primarily focused on fostering collective, deep listening experiences by exploring the symbiotic relationship between soundscape and landscape. Through active, sensory communion with the sonic and natural surroundings, we reflect on the interconnectedness of nature and human experience, cultivating a heightened awareness of sound and its profound impact on our perception and consciousness.

Moving beyond conventional institutional norms, we strive to craft bespoke, delicate playgrounds where creators and wanderers alike collide, exchange, and voyage freely.  We envision our gatherings as a departure from the typical festival grind. Instead, we like to think of them as temporary, world-built microcosms, where like-minded beings from all walks of life, converge to connect, touch grass, and drift together into the luminousness of the unseen and the unheard.

In addition to the aural dimension, we place equal importance on the visual and experiential layers of our gatherings. Scenography-related works—such as projection mappings, site-specific installations, contemporary dance performances, and unique world-building experiences—transform the landscape zone during NiANSA, offering a full-spectrum sensory delight for every voyager traversing with us.
