ISOLABS SITUATIONS
S³ Sorcerers, Shamans and Scientists
~ POSTPRIMA EDITION

SUNDAY 08 JUN / 18h~22h

We’re thrilled to announce a sequel of ISOLABS S3, stalking the twilight expanse of Day 3 at NiANSA2k25, featuring 4 time-decanted, veil-piercing sonic voyages.

QOA + Primeiro are about to re-emerge at ISOLABS as a liminal duo in full symbiosis mode, channeling site-specific Andean sonics for the vast karst terrain which is at the very heart of our deep-listening zone.

Ulla’s xenolithic yet sublimely comfortable sonic transmissions, dissolve into hypnagogic ambient architectures, smudged tape loops and gauzy melodies, inimitably hypnotizing and transportive, limboing between tactile and the transcendental.

Roméo Poirier warps time with his trademark hyper-fragmented textural wizardry and sleek, subaqueous electro-acoustic alchemy.

Finally, TUUM cloaks this 4-hour slot in a rare, arcanely inverted DJ selection, threading ancient-futures through oneiric sonic praxis.

ROMÉO POIRIER
live performance

Roméo Poirier is working in the field of electronic music, focusing on heavy processing of samples and digital collage. He released albums on the London based record label Kit Records (Plage Arrière), the mancunian record label Sferic (Hotel Nota), and Jan Jelinek’s own imprint Faitiche (Living Room), transforming the layering of different times into a free-flowing pulse that sounds both nostalgic and mysteriously ahistorical.

“Poirier takes music seriously as a time-based art – not just in the sense of duration, but also in the way time is refracted into autobiographical experience, historical dimensions and stages of evolution. By immersing and reflecting himself in these different layers, he creates a succession of new balances between various tempos, iterations and developments.

Poirier’s music emerges from a continual questioning and reformulation of his own oeuvre and thus of his own past, drawing on an ever-expanding archive of self-recorded loops. “I always resample myself, using fragments of a track to make a new one, as an ongoing process,” he explains: “The sound is evolving with me in parallel and the loops carry in their DNA all transformational stages, filled with previous tracks, sedimented.”

Originally a drummer, Poirier connects his various sources almost without a clearly identifiable beat. He prefers an organic pulse, mutable like the human sense of time and its fluidity. The aquatic feel of certain tracks on Living Room is no coincidence: among other devices, he uses a waterproof loudspeaker and a hydrophone to play back and rerecord tracks in the bathtub.”

ISOLABS – A Conceptual Exploration of Complex Systems Interactions

ISOLABS is conceived as a landscape of forensic investigations of and dialogues with the intricate interplay between art, science, technology, language and the environment, extending from the source to the mouth (delta) of Soča River. In ISOLABS, fieldwork, environmental and remote sensing, mapping, and reflective practices intertwine with local and global communities, probing and reflecting boundaries between disciplines, cultures, subcultures and natural systems. This set of situations are a critical step in our exploration of complex systems that shape our world, blending the precision of scientific inquiry with the expansive possibilities of conceptual art.
