FRUGAL FOREST FURNITURE
WORKSHOP / FRIDAY 06 JUN

Frugal* Forest Furniture is a collection of simple, enduring pieces crafted from locally sourced extruded clay and plant fibers. Rooted in principles of resourcefulness and connection to nature, each item celebrates the raw beauty of natural materials and craftsmanship. With their minimal forms and textured surfaces, these pieces invite a deeper relationship with place, encouraging a slower, more mindful way of living.

At Niansa, the workshop participants will use the press to make small pieces of improvised campsite furniture and decor made of local clay and plant fibers. The pieces will later disintegrate in nature and disappear.

*Latin frugalis, meaning "economical, virtuous, useful,"

Related to frux ("fruit, produce, success") — being fruitful and thriving by being wise and disciplined.

‘She led a frugal lifestyle, growing her own food and making her own clothes.’

SALTO DIONYS is a micro-craft enterprise based in Delavnica Levo in Ljubljana, founded by Rok Oblak. Like Dionysius, the ancient Greek god of fruit and festivity, SALTO DIONYS stands for a fun and adventurous, sometimes acrobatic design practice. Rok constructed a portable clay pressing device used to extrude clay into abstract functional objects: vases, bowls and other tableware designs.
