NiANSA x MODEM
ARTETETRA SHOWCASE SATURDAY 07 JUN / 16h~19h




Fifth world ambassadors and digital folklore surfers at Artetetra present a showcase connecting Italy and Slovenia through the internet netherworld. To celebrate ten years of activities at the fringes of the modem's peripheries, the label sends to NiANSA some of their agents to overstimulate the synapses with a sonorous wunderkammer of unearthly delights.

The showcase will comprise computer music punks Babau bringing their liquid worldbuilding and unleashing what has been defined as the sound of a continent moving, humans,  plants and minerals included and agent in la Havana Senor Service, smoke-filled music adventures certified to be always satisfying.


BABAU

Babau is an Italian music duo formed by Luigi Monteanni and Matteo Pennesi, exploring the intersection of exotica, computer music, and transglobal sonic subcultures in the post-internet age. Emerging from their hometown of Potenza Picena (MC) in 2014 with the EP Papalagi, their work unfolds as an ongoing investigation into sound as a vessel for cultural speculation and digital myth-making.

Their releases span collaborations with platforms like Discrepant, Bamboo Shows, and their own imprint Artetetra, a project devoted to practice-based research on digital folklore and exoticism in late globalization. Artetetra’s curatorial and artistic work has garnered attention from The New York Times, Coeval Mag, Resident Advisor, Artribune, Rolling Stone, Tiny Mix Tapes, and Zero.eu, with The Wire featuring them in its 400th issue through an article by Simon Reynolds.

Señor Service is the musical doppleganger of Umberto Pasinetti, formerly ½ of ₙₑw₋Wₑᵢᵣdₒ₋ᵥᵢbₑₛ label Pampsychia. Started in 2019 as a tender and humoristic music project, Señor Service feeds on cheeky plunderphonics and dreamy FM synthesis.. It is - 100% certified - as always satisfactory. Until now, he always delivered.

Dj final form (Matej Mihevc) has for the past eight years been the host of the Radio Študent show Modem, where he explores and maps the sounds of the online underground. Modem also encompasses a mix series, a compilation and an interactive website.













ARTETETRA is a label founded in 2014 by Matteo Pennesi and Luigi Monteanni in Potenza Picena, Italy, that for ten years has sprawled online and IRL with practice-based inquiries regarding the notions of digital folklore and the concept of exoticism in late globalization. With more than fifty releases and collaborations with artists such as Senyawa, Shit & Shine, Kink Gong, Grykë Pyje, Polonius, Sun Araw, Francesca Heart and KUNTARI, they have been featured in specialised press and media on outlets such as The New York Times, NTS, BBC, Rai Radio 3, The Quietus, Coeval Mag, Kiosk and Resident Advisor. Their work has been celebrated in the 400th issue of The Wire with a page article by Simon Reynolds.
